ABOUT LL
The Little League has as its mission statement:
“To enable young minds to focus their endless energies in pursuing sports and develop
their skills levels to match global levels and in that process build character,
discipline and teamwork”
Little League provides children from 3-12 all across India to play sports in a scientific
and organized manner and enable those who are gifted or the will to succeed find
a place in the global sports arena
The Little League primary aim is to
“Channelize your children’s energy into productive sports under proper training
and guidance and do it in a manner that enhances parent/child participation”
Children now spend a huge amount of time on TV/Video games and other “inactive”
or “passive” pursuits. Little League India aims to
a) Channelize children’s energies into active pursuits that
build team spirit and provide physical exercise
b) Enable parent/children interaction and bonding by encouraging
sports that the parents participate on Saturday/Sunday
c) Develop a competitive spirit by learning to play but also
play to win
The Little League has a whole menu of sports children can take up:
Soccer
Basketball
Tennis
Badminton
Table Tennis
The National Little League Cup brings the best Little League teams to play. The
National Little League Cup will be televised nationally
The Indian Little League aims to involve kids from ages 5 – 14 in spending their
free time in sports rather than TV etc. Along with involving kids in sports, it
aims to strengthen the parent/child bond by actively encouraging parents to sponsor
local leagues/volunteer as coaches and coordinators and also encouraging community
building through local leagues
We believe the very foundation of sports lies in creating an interest from childhood.
However that is only possible with active encouragement from parents and parents
will only encourage if they see sports finding a place of pride in communities.
Once that interest and participation has been built up it is only natural that children
will take active part in sports at the school and college level
